It's a girl!

Wow...I just spent the last 20 weeks convincing myself that we were having a boy! What a shocker our ultrasound was! I still can't wrap my head around it...I'm having a girl?? Ahhh...I can't wait to go shopping! Enjoy the pics! We love you all!

Someone's tap dancing in my uterus

If this baby is a girl then we are definitely putting her in dance! This morning as I was laying on the couch watching the school closings add up I even felt the baby kick from the outside! He kicked me hard about three times so I ran into the bedroom and woke Scott up. Do you think the baby moved at all after that so his daddy could feel it? Noooo...not this child...he doesn't know how to cooperate! We are going to have our hands full...lol!

I'm 20 weeks now...Wooo!! Halfway there! All I can think is that this first 20 weeks went so fast. Before we know it our precious baby will be here! (Kinda scares me a little!)
From babycenter.com this week:
Your baby weighs about 10 1/2 ounces now. He's also around 6 1/2 inches long from head to bottom and about 10 inches from head to heel — the length of a banana. (The way your baby is measured changes now.) He's swallowing more these days, which is good practice for his digestive system. He's also producing meconium, a black, sticky by-product of digestion. This gooey substance will accumulate in his bowels, and you'll see it in his first soiled diaper (although some babies pass meconium in the womb or during delivery).

Finally heard the heartbeat!

We finally got to hear the heartbeat today! In the past, the doctor always had trouble finding it or the baby would move before Scott and I heard it. Also, my blood pressure was down just a little bit today. Only 6 days until our ultrasound!

Oooh...I've got a feeling!

I feel the baby move!! Yay!!!! I realized today that I have been feeling little pokes and jabs for a while now, but I never realized that's what it was until today. LoL....I didn't think I would feel movement above the belly button...I don't know why, but I thought I would only feel it below the belly button. The girls at work were laughing at me when they told me I WAS feeling the baby. Huh, I just thought it was my stomach twitching, lol!

I also want to remind you all that you can leave comments on my posts. Below each post there is a spot that says comments...all you have to do is click and type.

Love ya guys!

We're gonna have a cute baby!

Wasn't Scott a cutie?? He was seven years old in that pic. :) The picture of me was taken on my 5th birthday. Yep, we're gonna make a darn cute kid!

It's a sad day

On Saturday my grandpa Thompson passed away. (He's my step-dad's father) He was on hospice and very sick but fortunately he was in no pain. My mom and step-dad (Randy) have only been married a few years so I haven't gotten to know his family well, but they are are such wonderful, caring people. We have a funeral to go to this morning and my emotions are here and there and everywhere today. My grandpa was so loving, selfless, funny, he always had a smile on his face and would give you the shirt off his back. He was married to his wife Wauneta for 58 years! Most of us only hope to spend that many years with our spouse! It is very clear what a wonderful person he is because his sons are also great people. I cannot put into words what this family is like...I have never met people like them before! They don't judge, they love each other so deeply, and they have some of the quirkiest senses of humor ever! My emotions are all over the place today...I just wanted to share some of my thoughts with you all. So, this is in memory of Theodore Thompson...We all love you very much!

Doctor appointment today...

At the doctor today my blood pressure was high again. The doctor is concerned about preeclampsia so she had some blood work done. I didn't have any protein in my urine today (that's good) but they are making me do a 24 hour urine collection anyway. The nurse told me I have to take my jug to work with me and refrigerate the urine...HA! I told her I work at a licensed daycare center and there was no way that would happen...lol. We aren't going to get worried about anything yet...I'm not going to worry until we know more. I now have to go to the doctor every 2 weeks so she can keep an eye on my blood pressure so we will know more soon.
On a good note, I have my 20 week ultrasound scheduled for December 22nd. I am so excited to find out what we are having!
Love you all!

The Name Game

The battle of the names has began! I kind of thought that Scott and I would decide on names rather quickly, but what a battle! And it's funny because we always think about boy names...lol. If we have a girl maybe then it won't be such a fight...NOT!
When we went to the doctor two weeks ago I had another ultrasound. (13 weeks) I can't believe how quickly a fetus develops! My little peanut looks like a person now!
I'm almost done with my 15th week now...that means the baby is about 4 1/2 inches from crown to bum and weighs 3.5 ounces. The other day I googled images of a 15 week fetus and it's so hard to believe that this tiny being is living and growing inside of ME! Other first time moms must get these incredible feelings too...it's just so hard to explain! This baby is a miracle!
Love you all!

Starting my second trimester

Well, I made it through 1/3 of my pregnancy! Yay!! These last couple days I have been feeling better than ever. We have another routine doctor appointment on Tuesday...nothing too exciting. My best friend, Jena, found out this week that she is having a boy. Congrats to you Jena! Jena is about 6 weeks ahead of me in her pregnancy. It has been fun to be pregnant at the same time as my best friend, but I am so jealous because she never seems sick or tired! Lucky her!

From babycenter.com:
13 weeks
Fingerprints have formed on your baby's tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you're having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce. As you start your second trimester, most of your baby's critical development will be completed and your odds of miscarriage drop considerably.

Love you guys!

Update on life....

I haven't thrown up in three days!! I know it sounds stupid to announce that to you all, but I am so excited!!! The end has finally come!! I've still been nauseous and icky feeling, but no more puking! Yay!!!!
So Scott and I found out last week that he is going to be laid of AGAIN. I am so sick of General Motors! How are we supposed to raise a family when GM can't decide if they need him? His last day is going to be this Friday. Scott will be able to collect unemployment while he looks for something else so we will be okay for a little while. Money will be super tight but we can manage....we've done it before. We are just really hoping that something great comes along for him so he won't have to go back to GM. It's really scary knowing that we have started a family and there is so reliable income! On the plus side, Scott will be home at night now...that will be great! I miss him so much during the week...especially since I have been pregnant!
Love you all!!

First OB appointment

Scott and I went to my first OB appointment this afternoon. Nothing too exciting...lol. It was the first time we met the doctor and we both really liked her. I was afraid I wouldn't like her, but she is great! I am going to sign Scott and I up for birthing classes and all that good stuff soon. This is so much fun!

Strangest craving yet...

I am always amazed at the things my body craves since I have been pregnant. First it was BBQ sauce. I wanted everything with BBQ sauce all the time! Then the morning sickness started and the only thing I ate for weeks was peanut butter toast. Then it was apples (which I never cared for until now.) Tonight I was at Meijer's and I just had to have macaroni and cheese. Did the baby want regular macaroni? Oh nooo...I just HAD to have the shaped mac! I cannot explain the feeling that came over me...it was so strange! I HAD to have the Scooby Doo macaroni. Does it taste any different? NO! Weird, weird, weird.....

Already 9 weeks!

I cannot believe we started the 9th week of my pregnancy...time is flying by! Before we know it our little one will be here! Here is the article from babycenter.com about how the baby is developing in the 9th week:

Your new resident is nearly an inch long — about the size of a grape — and weighs just a fraction of an ounce. She's starting to look more and more human. Her essential body parts are accounted for, though they'll go through plenty of fine-tuning in the coming months. Other changes abound: Your baby's heart finishes dividing into four chambers, and the valves start to form — as do her tiny teeth. The embryonic "tail" is completely gone. Your baby's organs, muscles, and nerves are kicking into gear. The external sex organs are there but won't be distinguishable as male or female for another few weeks. Her eyes are fully formed, but her eyelids are fused shut and won't open until 27 weeks. She has tiny earlobes, and her mouth, nose, and nostrils are more distinct. The placenta is developed enough now to take over most of the critical job of producing hormones. Now that your baby's basic physiology is in place, she's poised for rapid weight gain.

As I was reading this aloud to Scott he said "Are you crying AGAIN?" Yes, of course...I cry all the time...lol. Whenever I watch babies being born on TV it makes me cry, too. Scott just says I am a sap. Thanks, hon!
Anyways, I had a dream last night that we are having a boy. Then, I read today in the article that this week the baby's sex organs are formed. I am convinced this is a sign...lol. We are just really hoping for a boy!
I have my first appointment with my OB on Tuesday and I am super excited! I have been feeling better and better lately so I am not really worried about the baby anymore. I am just excited to meet our doctor! I'll make sure to post and let you all know what the doc has to say!
Love you all!

The Seventh Week...

I found this interesting article on babycenter.com that I'd like to share with all of you. :) I love to read about how my baby is developing week to week! (Don't tell anyone, but sometimes it makes me cry!...Shhh!) Click on the highlighted links to see some other cool stuff!

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry. If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.

I am also excited to say that my spotting has stopped (yay!) and everything seems to be fine. The earliest appointment I could get with my OB is on October 7th, but I am hoping to be able to change that. Instead of having morning sickness now, I feel like I have all day sickness...ugh! If I'm not feeling sick then I am unbelievably tired! I can't wait to get into my second trimester! Not too long to go...I can't believe I'm almost into my second month!

Love you all!

Baby News!

Wow...it's been a LONG time since I last posted! I guess nothing new has been going on...until now! Most of you already know that I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yay! What an interesting journey this has been so far!
On Friday I had a doctor appointment that really didn't turn out they way I expected. The nurse gave me a pregnancy test which was obviously positive (duh, we knew that) and then told us that was all. She said I had to make another appointment for my "first OB appointment" now that the test was positive. Wait...but I already knew I was pregnant...I thought this WAS my first appointment! Apparently there was some misunderstanding when we made the appointment and they thought I was just coming in for a pregnancy test.
Anyways, I told the nurse I had been spotting off and on and she told me to go to the emergency room. I thought this was overdoing it a little since spotting is normal, but Scott forced me to go. We spent over 5 hours at Spectrum, but I am so thankful Scott made me go in! It turns out that I have O- blood. Which means that my immune system could be recognizing the baby as a foreign object and attack it! A nurse gave me a Rhogam shot which will take care of that problem. I am just so glad Scott made me go in...how scary!!
I also got my first ultrasound while we were there...Yay!! We got to see our little dude and the heartbeat...it was so cool!! The tech printed a picture for us but it wasn't very good so we took pics of the screen with our camera phones...hehehe.
I am thanking God that everything turned out okay and that I have such a wonderful husband!
We love you all! Amanda and Scott

Love my cats!

While I was making my bed today Poptart decided it was a great time to take a nap on the bed. I kept moving him so I could finish putting the flat sheet on, but he kept getting right back up there. I got sick of it so I just made the bed with him in it...LoL. After a while he had inched his way to the edge so I untucked the sheets to find a very disgruntled kitty! Of course once I had moved Poptart and remade the bed the ever photogenic Cricket decided he wanted his picture taken, too.

I didn't take too many pictures because I was too busy having fun! However, we did go to "Trout-a-Rama" in Baldwin and I took a few pictures there. Haven't posted in a while...

I haven't posted in quite a while...I guess that is because nothing had been going on!! Scott is still working 60 hours a week...we see eachother for about an hour each morning and that is about it until Sunday. I guess now he is scheduled to work every Saturday until January...yuck!
I am going camping with my best friend, Jena, and her family this weekend. We are leaving tomorrow afternoon. I am excited...I have gone camping since I was in school! It is especially going to be fun to camp with Jena's kids...I love them to death!! I just wish Scott could come...the next weekend that he doesn't have to work I am going to steal him away for a mini-vacation! He definitely deserves it!! I will post some pics from camping sometime when I get home.

Update on life....

I am so excited to say that Scott finally got his call back from General Motors...YAY!!!! Finally things are going to get better for us financially! He started this week Monday and has been working a lot of overtime. They are actually scheduled to work every Saturday until September! Since he is a second shifter we don't see eachother much but at least when we are together we won't be worrying about money and bills anymore.
I am starting to get a little burned out on the daycare thing...I'm just trying to figure out what else I would like to do with my life. The only job I've really had has been the daycare...I've been there since I was 18! I do love my job and I would miss the kids sooooo much but the drive is so long and gas is so much and I am just getting burned out. I was told about an opening at the pharmacy Scott was working at I am considering applying there...I just keep putting it off because I am still not sure I would enjoy that kind of work. The kids keep me on my toes and I enjoy being so active at work...anything less active would probably bore me to tears. I'll quit rambling now...lol.
I got the CDs with our wedding pics...they are fantastic!! I am working on a slide show type thing for our blog...hopefully I'll get it posted tonight!
We love you all!

Our cat plays fetch!

Anyone who knows us well knows that we LOVE our pets! And you would also know that half of what we talk about has to do with our pets. Well, I have a GREAT story for all of you animal lovers!! A couple days ago Scott and I were sitting on the couch watching TV and Cricket jumped up next to us and dropped his toy mouse into Scott's lap. Scott threw the mouse down the hall and Cricket bolted after it and brought it back. So, Scott threw the mouse again and once again Cricket brought it back. He continued this 4 or 5 times in a row!!! I thought it was just a coincidence until last night. I was watching TV and threw Cricket's mouse down the hall...can you guess what he did? I threw his mouse about 10 times and each time he brought it back to me!!! I always thought he was meant to be a dog!!

Awww..

Hey again! I am pretty addicted to this blogging stuff...lol. I was looking through my picture files on the computer today...I found this picture from when Scott and I first started dating. I can't believe how young we look...especially Scott!! I get a little teary eyed when I think back to when this picture was taken...so much has changed since then! I just can't believe how much Scott and I have grown up! We have learned together, laughed together, cried together and grown together. We are so lucky to have eachother!

This second picture is Scott riding Weasel in the spring of 2006. We were out at my dad's house and he wanted to try to ride a horse. Dad and Penny let him ride Weasel because he is so calm and good-natured. It was pretty funny because Dad made Weasel trot around the pasture while Scott held on for dear life. After Scott got down he informed us all that he had never ridden a horse before...oops.
I don't know if everyone has our email addresses so I added them to the right-hand column of this blog. Thanks for visiting our blog...we love you all!

Engagement Pics

We wanted to share a slideshow of our favorite engagement pictures with you all...they turned out great! We had the BEST photographer for our engagement and wedding pictures! If anyone needs a photographer for any occasion, check out Tessa's website...she is wonderful! If you have already checked out her website, you need to visit again...she added new pics from our wedding the other day. I should be getting the CDs with our wedding pics this weekend...I am super excited! I can't wait to share them!

Also, I was thinking it would be a great idea for everyone in our family to create a blog...I think it is a easy way to keep up with eachother and see recent pictures. We don't get to see eachother as often as I wish! If anyone wants to start a blog I can help you...I am just learning myself but it is pretty easy.

Love you all!

Trying to figure out this blog thing...

Hi everyone! I decided to create a blog so that all of our family and friends who do not have myspace can keep in touch with what we are up to. I'm still trying to figure out how this all works...lol.

We have had a lot of people ask to see pictures from the honeymoon...so I made a slideshow! :) The first contains our favorite pics from Maui. The second slideshow has the pictures from Kauai. I can't wait to get our wedding pictures back! We should be getting the CD soon..then I will make sure I put them on here, too! Our photographer has a few of the pictures on her website...the address is www.tesslangelandphotography.com

Scott and I are doing very well...married life isn't any different...lol. I am still working at the daycare for the summer...still with the same age group of kids. Scott went into General Motors for a drug test today so hopefully he will be getting back there after the 4th of July. Ummm...there is really nothing new going on other than that...

Please leave us a comment so we know you were here...at the end of this blog, under the slideshows it says "comment"...you click on that to leave a comment (make sure you sign your name!!)
We love you all!
Amanda and Scott
