The Seventh Week...

I found this interesting article on babycenter.com that I'd like to share with all of you. :) I love to read about how my baby is developing week to week! (Don't tell anyone, but sometimes it makes me cry!...Shhh!) Click on the highlighted links to see some other cool stuff!

The big news this week: Hands and feet are emerging from developing arms and legs — although they look more like paddles at this point than the tiny, pudgy extremities you're daydreaming about holding and tickling. Technically, your baby is still considered an embryo and has something of a small tail, which is an extension of her tailbone. The tail will disappear within a few weeks, but that's the only thing getting smaller. Your baby has doubled in size since last week and now measures half an inch long, about the size of a blueberry. If you could see inside your womb, you'd spot eyelid folds partially covering her peepers, which already have some color, as well as the tip of her nose and tiny veins beneath parchment-thin skin. Both hemispheres of your baby's brain are growing, and her liver is churning out red blood cells until her bone marrow forms and takes over this role. She also has an appendix and a pancreas, which will eventually produce the hormone insulin to aid in digestion. A loop in your baby's growing intestines is bulging into her umbilical cord, which now has distinct blood vessels to carry oxygen and nutrients to and from her tiny body.

I am also excited to say that my spotting has stopped (yay!) and everything seems to be fine. The earliest appointment I could get with my OB is on October 7th, but I am hoping to be able to change that. Instead of having morning sickness now, I feel like I have all day sickness...ugh! If I'm not feeling sick then I am unbelievably tired! I can't wait to get into my second trimester! Not too long to go...I can't believe I'm almost into my second month!

Love you all!

Baby News!

Wow...it's been a LONG time since I last posted! I guess nothing new has been going on...until now! Most of you already know that I am 6 weeks pregnant. Yay! What an interesting journey this has been so far!
On Friday I had a doctor appointment that really didn't turn out they way I expected. The nurse gave me a pregnancy test which was obviously positive (duh, we knew that) and then told us that was all. She said I had to make another appointment for my "first OB appointment" now that the test was positive. Wait...but I already knew I was pregnant...I thought this WAS my first appointment! Apparently there was some misunderstanding when we made the appointment and they thought I was just coming in for a pregnancy test.
Anyways, I told the nurse I had been spotting off and on and she told me to go to the emergency room. I thought this was overdoing it a little since spotting is normal, but Scott forced me to go. We spent over 5 hours at Spectrum, but I am so thankful Scott made me go in! It turns out that I have O- blood. Which means that my immune system could be recognizing the baby as a foreign object and attack it! A nurse gave me a Rhogam shot which will take care of that problem. I am just so glad Scott made me go in...how scary!!
I also got my first ultrasound while we were there...Yay!! We got to see our little dude and the heartbeat...it was so cool!! The tech printed a picture for us but it wasn't very good so we took pics of the screen with our camera phones...hehehe.
I am thanking God that everything turned out okay and that I have such a wonderful husband!
We love you all! Amanda and Scott
